
The rebound in the fields of tourism and
business trips translated into a rise in the total number of passengers
passing by the Argentine airports in March of this year and in the last
12 months. Such positive jumps reach 17.8% for the first case, and 14.3%
in the second case.
Passengers at the City Airport or Aeroparque
Overall and according to Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 (AA2000), with Julio Ernesto Gutierrez Conte
1,911,898 passengers have used the airports it manages in March of this
year. Moreover, as reported by the concessionaire of the major airports
in Argentina, this figure stands for a 17.8% rise when compared against
the 1,622,874 passengers recorded in the same month last year. According
to the report, “The positive trend can be also confirmed if we analyze
the accumulated figures recorded for the last 12 months.” Furthermore,
it points out that, “From April 2009 through March 2010, the total
number of users-passengers who used the airports reached 21,242,927
million. This means a 14.3% rise compared to the one recorded in the
previous inter-annual period, with 18,585,664 passengers.
Regional flights. The report prepared by AA2000 states that, “In the
case of the City Airport or Aeroparque, flights regionalization boosted
growth in the number of passengers” who passed by the terminal.
Moreover, it says that, “In March 2010, approximately 666,000 travelers
used the airport. In turn, this entails a 37.6% rise with respect to the
same period in 2009.”
On its part, “The number of passengers who used Ezeiza in March 2010
exceeded 705,000 – i.e., a 3.6% rise when compared with the same period
the previous year.
Domestic flights. According to the report prepared by AA2000, “The
rise in passengers’ volume stood for 20.7% in Córdoba. Thus, it had
120,490 passengers in March as opposed to 99,862 passengers recorded in
2009.” Meanwhile, “Bariloche experienced a climb of 22.8%, with 61,739
passengers in March, against the 50,286 passengers recorded for the same
period in 2009.”
Growth in Salta climbed to 21%, with 49,317 passengers, as opposed to
the 40,766 recorded in the same month the previous year. Additionally,
Tucumán had positive results and with 34,935 users, exceeding by 27.1%
the 27,841 travelers who used the terminal in March 2009.
This information shows a different view of the growth experienced in
the last few months in terms of both leisure and corporate trips.
Concerning the former, the summer Season and Easter have recently shown a
huge climb in the number of visitors traveling to different tourist
spots in Argentina.
Goods. On its part, cargo had also an excellent performance. In March
2010, it had a 41.9% growth with 22,019 tons with respect to the 15,521
tons recorded in the same period the previous year.
