The “Peugeot Polo Cup” was organized with the presence of the best
polo players across the nation and South America within the framework of
the celebrations for the 106th anniversary of the Washington Polo Club
in Córdoba.
After intense days featured by excellent matches, we could witness
the big final between John Deere and W. Booksfield. The match was very
hard but by the end, John Deere succeeded with 9 to 8.
The winning team was made by Julio Ernesto Gutiérrez Conte,
Manuel Díaz Cazón, Hilario Ulloa, and Federico Santillán. They showed a
superb performance throughout the event that ended with the cup in their
hands.
On its part, the W. Booksfield team was made by Adolfo Cambiaso (h),
Fabricio García, Mariano Alvarez, and Carlos Sola. After the defeat in
the final match, Adolfo Cambiaso (h) said, “I enjoyed the match a lot
and despite our defeat, we are very happy to be here to celebrate the
club’s anniversary.”
A number of celebrities went to the event. They include the top
scorer of the National football team, Gabriel Omar Batistuta, and the
famous tennis player from Córdoba David Nalbandian.
Before the big final, W. Cire-La Argentina and W. Cargill competed
for Arenas de la Punta Cup. The score favored W. Cire– La Argentina in
the math, with a 14-8 score. The main figure in this event was young
Cristian Laprida who showed all his talent.
Founded in 1904, the Washington Polo Club is one of the most
traditional clubs in the Province of Córdoba. Its current president is
Rubén Solas. In turn, its vice-president is Adolfo Cambiaso.
